Online 4-Hour Florida First Time Driver Course

  • According to a new Legislation passed in the FL Senate (SB994), and was signed by the Governor on May 30, 2025, as of July 1, 2025 the current TLSAE course can no longer be offered to students under 18 (classroom and online)

  • The current TLSAE will continue to be used for all students who are 18 years of age or older

We are in the process of updating our TLSAE course to be compliant with DETS standards for the under 18 students

EXTENDED: NOW till August 1, 2025. After this date the 4-hour TLSAE course will no longer be accepted for applicants under 18.

Details for individuals under 18 years of age who complete the TLSAE course prior to August 1, 2025:
These individuals will be grandfathered in and allowed to use their TLSAE course completion certificate for one-year after the completion date.

The 4-Hour Florida First Time Driver course is a state required course for all new drivers in the state of Florida.  If you want to get your driver license you must take the 4-Hour First Time Driver course before getting your restricted or permit license.    This course is state approved by Department Highway Safety Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) in Tallahassee, Florida.

You do NOT need to take this course if you already have a driver license from another state or country.
